The Alliance Francaise de Philadelphie is pleased to announce their participation in the 6th Annual French Youth Film Festival “Festinema Junior”. Festinema Junior is a nationwide French film festival and educational program designed for children and adolescents that encourages visual learning, foreign language acquisition, and promotes an understanding of cinema and international cultures amongst American students. The underlying goals of the festival are to promote French language and francophone cultures, to teach young students to express critical points of view through film analysis, and to introduce young audiences to original subtitled films and independent cinema.
Festinema Junior was started by the Alliance Francaise Network in the United States in 2014 and has grown rapidly in popularity and scope over the course of the past 5 years. The program offers four featured films tailored to four separate age groups : 4-6 years old (preschool), 7-12 years old (elementary), 13-15 years old (middle school), and 16-18 years old (high school). Lesson plans for each featured film are designed by the festival organizers and provided to help teachers engage their students in pre and post screening classwork and discussion.
